Nutrition
Why nutrition is important
A person’s diet is one of the biggest contributors for good mental health in a student. It is important that we are healthy and have good eating habits so that we are always on top of our game in classes we go to everyday.
What to eat
Healthy eating habits include eating a variety of vegetables and fruits, eating whole-grain while reducing refined and processed carbohydrates, drinking fat free or low fat milk, eating low fat protein, refraining from too much of saturated and trans-fats, using vegetable oils such as olive and canola oils, reducing sodium intake, and reducing the consumption of junk foods
Mental Health and Food
When talking about mental health we very rarely talk about nutrition. What we put into our bodies affect not only how we feel physically, but also mentally. Eating healthy meals throughout the week will make a student more likely to retain the information they are learning in class, rather than eating junk food. Though, allowing yourself one or two days a week to be "bad", is also okay. "Everything in moderation", as health professionals and every day people say!
